Starr Alvarez has been employed with the State of Michigan as a Claims Examiner for approximately three years starting during COVID. Starr has assisted claimants by direct customer service by phone then had the opportunity to assist in person in the Lansing Local Office in June 2021. Starr also serviced claimants in the Kalamazoo Local Office by determining eligibility of claims and explaining determinations.

Starr has experience effectively communicating with diverse communities, especially during her time working in emergency 911 services. She traveled through multiple states while being employed in the military working with diverse groups. Starr served simultaneously as a proud Army wife and a service member in the Army National Guard until her honorable discharge in 2005. Starr is bilingual and is fluent in English and Spanish. Starr strives to multitask and prioritize while setting a professional standard.
