What is the Extended Benefits program?
The Extended Benefits (EB) program provides up to 20 weeks of additional Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits to workers who have exhausted their regular unemployment compensation and Federal Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC). EB is paid only when a state’s unemployment rate rises to a level sufficient to “trigger” the program and start benefit extensions. EB began in Michigan on 4/26/20.
