Public Library Financial Management
Financial management in a public library is an important issue for library administrators, staff and trustees. In order to assist public libraries in dealing with fiscal issues, the Library of Michigan has updated the financial management guide in 2014. The Public Library Financial Management Guide (hosted at the Internet Archive) covers basic accounting, revenues, expenditures, budgeting, financial reporting, audits, and internal controls. It includes sample budgets and policies as well. In addition to the guide, written by Abraham & Gaffney, there is also a series of short webinars on topics that libraries often have questions about. The webinars range from 3 to 7 minutes and give a brief overview of the topic. Please see additional links to topical webinars below.
This project is supported in part by the Library of Michigan with federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
