The Library of Michigan’s Ready to Read Michigan program is designed to support public library staff as they model early literacy skill development directly to families and caregivers with young children (ages birth to 5). The Ready to Read Michigan program supports public libraries as they engage in outreach to families and caregivers, as well as early childhood centers, schools, and daycares in their community.
The Library of Michigan works with the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) to empower public libraries to foster community and a love of reading throughout the summer with children, teens and families in their community. This program is an inclusive, literacy based one for all ages that includes reproducible materials, a variety of online resources, and a unified theme, including artwork.
Designed to increase and enhance STEM learning opportunities for library patrons throughout the state, NASA @ My Library is open to all public libraries in Michigan. Make connections with experts, access resources and materials, and check-out programming kits thanks to the Library of Michigan’s partnership with participating sponsors.
Check out the variety of additional resources we have to offer such as workshops, recorded webinars, Braille StoryWalk®, and more.
Public Libraries can take summer – and year-round reading – to another level! Manage your public library reading programs and increase engagement through Wandoo Reader. With expanded “challenges,” game-like features, and multiple themes, you can engage people of all ages. Wandoo Reader allows you to build programs around experiences, in addition to more-traditional logging activities, like tracking books and minutes. Public Library Directors should contact Cathy Lancaster, Youth Services Coordinator at the Library of Michigan, for details at LancasterC5@Michigan.gov. This program is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
