Libraries and the 2020 Census

In 2020 the Census will primarily be conducted online for the first time. ALA is providing information as the time approaches to help libraries prepare for increased demands on technology resources and staff to assist those taking part in the Census.  Below you can find some informational links to help provide background about the process and how libraries are a vital component. As training opportunities are created we will post them to Michlib-l and other communication channels. 

State aid to public libraries is determined by the service population. That is one of many reasons why it is essential for Michigan libraries to with the Complete Count Initiative. For this reason and more, the Library of Michigan and the United States Census Bureau are holding 4 Census Solutions Workshop in Michigan. This workshop will provide a creative, collaborative, problem-solving space to address the importance of census data, reaching hard-to-count populations (HTC), and encourage participation in the 2020 Census. The Library of Michigan encourages Michigan libraries to attend this free, half-day workshop presented by U.S. Census Bureau. This workshop will be held at 4 locations:
