Argentine Township Police Department is accepting applications from qualified candidates to join our team for the position of police officer.

REQUIREMENTS:

• The applicant must also meet the following minimum qualifications:
• Be a United States Citizen
• Be 21 years of age
• Possess a valid Michigan driver's license with good driving history
• MCOLES licensed or have successfully completed the MCOLES Recognition of Prior Training and Experience
• Possess a high school diploma or the equivalent (An Associate's degree or equivalent preferred)
• Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination and drug screen.
• No felony convictions (including expunged records or convictions under HYTA etc.)
• Must have good moral character
• Must have basic computer skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform patrol / shift duties / taking and responding to calls for service Enforce laws and township ordinances Conduct criminal investigations and collect evidence Enforce traffic laws and conducts traffic related investigations Makes arrests and interviews persons Effectively communicate verbally and in writing - capable of preparing police reports, citations. Operate desktop and patrol car computer software

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Officer's Duties include directing traffic and providing physical assistance in emergency situations. Officers will have to perform their duties in all weather conditions and may include physically taxing activities such as walking, running, climbing, bending, lifting and subject control. Officers are expected to work nights, weekends and holidays, and work 12 hour shift configurations.
