Village of Hesperia: Police Chief Closing Date: January 31, 2023

The Village of Hesperia is seeking a Police Chief to manage a full-time department under the supervision of the Village President. The Chief is responsible for the direct supervision of all employed officers. A successful candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, have knowledge and experience in labor/management relations, a collaborative management style as well as being fiscally responsible to work within the department’s budget.

The Chief of Police is expected to maintain a positive working relationship with a variety of appointed and elected officials to include a seven member Village Council, Village Staff, community members and the general public. Must be willing to be on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day and be able to respond to an emergency within 30 minutes.

To qualify, candidates must be MCOLES licensed by date of employment; LASO or TAC certified; minimum 7 years of law enforcement service, have an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s degree preferred) in Criminal Justice; and minimum 2 years of progressive supervisory experience.

Compensation for this position is negotiable depending upon experience including benefits.
