Genesee Township Police Department: Full-time Police Officer Closing Date: February 28, 2023

The Genesee Township Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Full-Time Police Officer.  Prior police experience is not required, but highly preferred.  The Charter Township of Genesee is located in Genesee County and borders the City of Flint, City of Burton, Mount Morris and Richfield Township.  Genesee Township is approximately 28.5 square miles and serves a population of 21,500 residents.  This department routinely responds to over 10,000 calls for service annually, with a sworn staff of approximately 19 Full-Time Officers, including Detectives, Sergeants, Lieutenant, and accompanying Support Staff.  The Genesee Township Police Department is a member of the Law Enforcement Regional Training Academy, which provides additional in-service training for our staff. 


Perform responsible law enforcement duties which includes but not limited to the enforcement of all laws and ordinances, crime prevention, community policing, criminal investigations, traffic enforcement, and accident investigation.  This position is under the supervision and direction of a Patrol Sergeant.  


  • Be 21 years of age
  • High school graduate or equivalency 
  • No prior felony convictions
  • Possess a valid State of Michigan operator’s license
  • Be a MCOLES licensed or licensable police officer
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Successfully complete all phases in the background hiring process
  • Meet all MCOLES employment standards 


*** Applicants MAY immediately qualify for Lateral Entry at 2nd Year Pay Rate depending upon prior Law Enforcement experience and training.
