Clay Township Police Department: Full-time Police Officer Closing Date: January 1, 2023

The Clay Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. This position offers a comprehensive and competitive benefit package. 

Starting Pay:  $51,564 - $62,984 depending on experience.  Current top pay $70,207.

Under supervision of a Police Sergeant; a sworn law enforcement officer will perform a broad range of police activities.

A person in this position is responsible to serve the public through the knowledgeable enforcement of state laws and local ordinances. A police officer has general responsibilities to maintain order, regulate traffic, protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder; and to perform related work as required. A police officer will typically perform basic patrol and investigative tasks but may be directed to complete special assignments or tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Michigan Operators License
  • Having never been convicted of a felony or serious traffic offense
  • Applicants must be MCOLES licensed, licensable or currently within a certified Academy
  • Applicants will be required to pass a background investigation and medical exam
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of employment.
  • Must be motivated, mature, willing to work various shifts, work well with others as a cohesive team, and possess a high degree of professionalism.
  • Must possess good moral character as determined by a favorable background investigation covering school, employment records, home environment, personal traits, and integrity.
