The Village of Blissfield Police Department (BPD) is a 6-person agency seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time and part-time police officer. The successful candidates will be community-oriented, educated, and possess the proper physical strength, mental and emotional maturity to professionally police a close-knit community in the 21st Century. Candidates must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with an excellent driving record, at least 60 hours of college (a bachelor’s degree is preferred) and be MCOLES licensed at the time of employment. The candidate must be able to successfully pass a background check and investigation that will include a criminal history and driving history check, as well as passing medical and psychological examinations.
BPD is a full-service police department that operates 24/7/365 and operates on 12-hour shifts. In addition to traditional police calls for service, BPD officers routinely respond to other calls such as medical emergencies and non-emergency public assistance calls. BPD officers conduct criminal investigations, prepare various types of police reports, and utilizing numerous forms of technology. BPD Officers will normally work by themselves, and the successful candidate must be self-motivated to provide professional and courteous police service at all times. As a smaller agency, BPD officers are expected to work to support many aspects of the overall mission of the police department, their fellow officers, command staff, and can be expected to handle additional assignments.
