POSITION SUMMARY:
Perform duties pertaining to the protection of lives and property, enforcement of criminal and traffic laws, prevention of crime, preservation of public peace, and the apprehension of criminals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Investigate 911 complaints along with follow-up investigation, enforcement of State and Local law, traffic enforcement, investigate traffic crashes and perform traffic safety, security and property checks, general patrol vehicle maintenance, prison transports, general citizen assistance, referrals to and from Social Services, court appearances/testifying, court security/bailiff duties, civil and criminal process, liquor control compliance checks, mental health orders, petitions, and transports, medical first responder, field training officer and any other tasks assigned by the Sheriff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills while having the ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image. Good physical condition, use of communication equipment, computers, vehicles, and various firearms. Willing and able to work various shifts. Work as a team with staff members as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Must possess a minimum of an Associate Degree or be able to obtain an Associate Degree within a prescribed time frame, pass an extensive background investigation, and successfully complete written and oral examinations. Must be 18 years of age or older.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED
Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) licensed or eligible for licensing.
