The City of Rochester is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Chief of Police. The current Chief of Police is set to retire after a 41-year career in law enforcement with the last 15 as Chief here in Rochester. The City of Rochester is a community of 13,300 people in northeast Oakland County. Rochester is home to a vibrant downtown and access to various trails and parks for excellent shopping and recreation.
The police department has been accredited by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police. The department has 22 sworn officers, and 8 civilian positions. The department operates their own dispatch center, K-9 officer who works with a bomb and patrol K-9s, two school liaison officers, two detectives and an officer assigned to the Oakland County Narcotics Enforcement Team. The department operates on a 4.2-million-dollar budget.
Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Management, or closely related field. Must be MCOLES licensed at the time of appointment. Graduation from the Police School of Staff and Command and/or FBI National Academy a plus. Must have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible police agency management experience.

The current pay range for this position is $95,039 to $123,550, DOQ. There is also a very competitive benefit package, including medical, dental, and optical insurance along with a deferred compensation pension plan and take home vehicle.
