Ann Arbor Police Department: Police Officer – Entry Level and Lateral Closing Date: February 27, 2023

This is a sworn law enforcement position that involves protecting life and property through enforcement of laws and ordinances. Candidates need to either be currently enrolled in a police academy within the State of Michigan, already completed one or a lateral police officer.

Entry Level Police Officer, $60,000 annually ($28.84 hourly)
w/Bachelor's, $61,350 annually ($29.49 hourly)

Lateral Police Officer (2 years' experience), $67,000 annually ($32.21)
w/Bachelor's, $68,507.50 annually ($32.93 hourly)

Lateral Police Officer (3+ years' experience), $70,500 annually ($33.89 hourly)
w/Bachelor's, $72,086.25 annually ($34.65 hourly)

Earning Potential under the current contract: 
After 10 years of service with the AAPD, the salary of a Police Officer is $95,000 annually or $97,137.50 with a Bachelor's Degree (base pay).
After 10 years of service, the salary for a Detective is $104,500 or $106,851.25 with a Bachelor's Degree (base pay).

Pension after 25 years of years of service or age 50 with a 2.75 multiplier.

Additional highlights: 12 weeks paid family leave, 16 paid holidays, up to $5,000 tuition reimbursement per year, $2,000 uniform allowance per year.
