Roosevelt Park Police Department: Police Academy Cadet Closing Date: April 28, 2023

The City of Roosevelt Park, Michigan (population est. 4,172) located in desirable West Michigan seeks a proactive, career-oriented Police Cadet to work and learn in a community oriented problem-solving environment. The City of Roosevelt Park Police Department is looking at hosting and employing its first ever Michigan police academy cadet with the goal of helping the next generation of law enforcement officers enter the profession.

Qualifications: Sponsored Cadet must be eligible to begin and be currently enrolled in an MCOLE’s licensed police academy.  Cadet does not need to be attending academy at time of application however current acceptance and eventual completion is mandatory.

Salary for this part-time position starts at $16 per hour paid on the equivalency of a forty-hour work week which includes all academy and schooling hours. If additional weekly hours are needed to maintain forty hours of weekly sponsorship, onsite departmental studies or administrative functions within the police department may be necessary.

Upon completion of the MCOLE’s certified police academy and the successful passing of all necessary background and pre-employment screening, the cadet will be promoted into a full-time patrol officer role as outlined within the current collective bargaining agreement. 
Full-time employment after academy graduation includes; strong wages, excellent benefit package including defined contribution plan, comprehensive health insurance plan, dental and vision reimbursement program, life insurance, vacation, sick and personal leave, and uniform/equipment allowance.
