45th District Court: Court Officer – Full-Time or Part-Time Closing Date: May 26, 2023

Duty Station: 45th District Court, Oak Park, Michigan

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Chief Court Officer and Court Administrator, the successful candidate will provide security at the entry station into the Court Facility of the 45th District Court and serve as the backup for courtroom duties.  The Officer will provide security screening for Judges, Court employees, and the public.  The Officer will also provide back up for other Court Officers and transport prisoners. The Officer will carry a court assigned weapon while on duty. The Officer will regularly monitor the interior and exterior of the courthouse. The Officer will be required to become PBT and LEIN certified. The Court Officer will also be responsible for learning Zoom and hosting virtual courtroom dockets.

Requirements:

A high school diploma is required, but an associate degree or higher is preferred. 

Experience: 

Experience as a law enforcement officer, corrections officer or court security officer is preferred, but not required. Excellent opportunity for a retired law enforcement professional.

Background Check:

This position is subject to a complete background investigation. Applicant must have no misdemeanor or felony convictions. 

Salary Range and Schedule:

Salary DOQ. If full-time, the position provides full benefits including medical, optical, dental, contributions to retirement savings, and paid time off. Part-time may be an option, but the position would not qualify for benefits or paid time off.
