East Tawas Police Department: Police Officer Closing Date: June 30, 2023

The East Tawas Police Department is currently accepting applications and resumes for full and part-time police officers. 

Currently MCOLES Licensed applicants only.

We are seeking a positive community-oriented officer to add to our team. The City of East Tawas is a beautiful community on Lake Huron in Iosco County and is a wonderful place to live and work. Low crime, strong community support and a great opportunity for community policing at its finest.

Full-time Benefits include:

Starting Pay of $28.80 an hour, with an annual review, Blue Care Network medical insurance currently 100% employer paid premium with dental and vision riders. 401a retirement with an 8% employer contribution, Health Care Savings Plan, life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays. Uniforms, equipment, and footwear provided; typical shift is a 12-hour rotation with every other weekend off. Progressive on-going training, and opportunity for advancement/specialization.

Note: Part-time wage is the same with no benefits 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
  • Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) licensed or licensable by time of appointment.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal laws, local ordinances, and other regulations governing police authority.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, days, nights, and holidays.
