The Richfield Township Police Department is currently accepting resumes for a full-time police officer. Candidates can be MCOLES licensed, law enforcement academy recruits, academy graduates or those desiring to be sent to a police academy.
The minimum requirements and qualifications are:
- Citizen of the United States
- At least 21 years of age
- Must not have any felony convictions, including expunged convictions, or convictions of any other type or nature that affect MCOLES licensing.
- Acceptable driving record
- Free from any physical or mental impairments that would prevent the applicant from performing all of the normal duties required of a Police Officer
This position will receive the following benefits with others not listed:
- Individual or family plans for medical, optical and dental with the same benefits available upon retirement for the employee and their spouse
- Current starting pay is $23.92 per hour / 5-year pay is $29.37
- Additional $1 per hour pay for special assignments worked such as firearms instructing, TEAM, investigations and others
- Contracted pay increases for years 1 through 5 then at 10, 15 and 20 years.
- Personal hours prorated upon hiring for the first year with vacation hours to begin proration after one year
- Education benefits for pay to equal 2% additional base pay for any officer having a bachelor's degree and 4% additional base pay to any officer having a master's degree
- 2% shift premium for any shift starting after 12:00 PM (noon)
- Specialized instructorships within the department such as: firearms, defensive tactics, first aid, PBT calibrator, Davison Area Reconstruction Team (DART crash team)
- 13 paid holidays per year to include employee's birthday
- Pension through MERS being a hybrid plan of a MERS 1.5 multiplier defined benefit plan and a 401A defined contribution plan with the Township contributing 5%
- MERS vesting at 6 years of service
- 55/25 retirement (age 55 with 25 years of service)
- FAC 5
- POLC Union membership
- Employer paid $50,000 life insurance policy
- Shift preference two times per year
- 12-hour shifts (generally working 7 out of 14 days per pay period with every other weekend off)
