Eaton Rapids Police Department: Full-Time Patrol Officer Position Closing Date: December 31, 2023

The City of Eaton Rapids is currently seeking qualified, community minded, candidates for the position of patrol officer. Eaton Rapids is uniquely situated along the Grand River, offering a great small-town atmosphere yet only a short drive to several larger cities. We proudly serve a community of 5200 people. The police department has an authorized strength of ten full-time officers and one part-time officer. These include a School Resource Officer, Detective, Lieutenant and a Chief. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Eligible for MCOLES licensing upon appointment
• Possess a valid driver license
• No felony convictions and/or disqualifying criminal history
• Ability to successfully complete a background investigation, psychological evaluation, and drug screen.
• Must reside within 25 miles of the City of Eaton Rapids within 1 year. 

Wages and notable benefits:

• Starting pay of $22.58hr with maximum top pay in four years of $31.70hr. 
• Licensed officers with experience can be started at higher pay depending on years of experience.   
• Comprehensive health care package provided by the city with 80/20 premium split. 
• Uniforms and dry cleaning provided by department.
• Reimburse up to $35.00 per month for gym membership. 
• MERS 457 retirement plan with city contributing 10% and the employee contributing 5%. 
• Bonuses and tuition reimbursement available to qualifying employees. 
  
  • $800 bonus available annually for successfully completing MCOLES physical agility test.
  • $500.00 bonus for successfully completing FTO.
  • $500.00 bonus for successfully completing one-year probationary period.  
  • $2000.00 available annually for tuition reimbursement. 
  • $1200.00 annual bonus for possessing a bachelor’s degree.
  • $1800.00 annual bonus for possessing a master’s degree.
