Keego Harbor Police Department: Part-time Police Officer Closing Date: December 31, 2023
June 12, 2023
The City of Keego Harbor is seeking experienced, MCOLES licensed persons for part-time patrol positions. KHPD encourages recent police retirees who are still certified and retired in good standing to apply. We appreciate your experience and prior service. Keego Harbor is a city of 3,000 residents, located approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Detroit, in Oakland County. It is approximately 1 square mile bordered by two beautiful lakes, Cass Lake and Sylvan Lake.
There is NO residency requirement or limit on distance an officer must reside from the city border. Officers selected for this position will be able to chose their work schedule, for four weeks at a time, based on available openings. Current needs are approximately 16 to 24 hours per week but can vary from 8 to 32 hours depending on how much time off full the time officers are utilizing. Shifts are 8 hours. More hours are available between Memorial Day and Labor Day due to vacations.
Current pay is $27.33 per hour. Part-time officers are paid double time on holidays. The officers' contract is currently in negotiations and adjustments to that wage will be evaluated when the contract is finalized. A part time position may lead to a full-time officers position should an opening occur and you are interested in full time.
A qualified applicant must be able to perform responsive law enforcement duties, which include but are not limited to the enforcement of all state laws, local ordinances, and traffic laws, prevention and detection of crime, apprehension of offenders, promotion of positive community relations and public service, and any other law enforcement functions as directed by the Chief of Police. An applicant must not have a record of any MCOLES disqualifying offenses to be eligible for this position.
If you have any questions about the position please contact the Chief Fitzgerald at chieffitz@khpd.org.
