Meridian Township Police Department: Chief of Police Closing Date: August 15, 2023

Located on the green and white banks of Michigan State University, Meridian Township (population 45,493) seeks an innovative and experienced leader to serve as our next Police Chief. Meridian Township is a highly desirable place to live and was recently named by Newsweek Magazine as "The Best Town to Live in Michigan." With 31 parks, over 100 miles of pathways and some of the highest rated schools in the nation, Meridian Township is a destination for many. Truly, people flock to Meridian Township. Our census growth from 2010-2020 provided double digit growth. Our $2B tax base allows the Township to provide exemplary public services to our residents. We have a teamwork philosophy and take great pride in putting "Service Above Self."

Meridian Township is very proud to be the first Township in Michigan to be accredited by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.

Our next Police Chief will inherit a team of 41 officers (sworn) who understand the need to serve and protect. The Meridian Township Police Department is committed to regional cooperation and provides law enforcement to an adjoining township. Our new leader must be one who has built trust and shown empathy in their current department. We expect the new Chief to begin serving our community around November 1. The position of Police Chief reports directly to the Township Manager.

Meridian Township offers an excellent benefit and retirement package. The salary range is up to $130,000.
