The City of Burton Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of full time Police Officer. The Burton Police Department is a progressive agency serving 30,000 citizens residing in the area of 23.5 square miles. The Department employs 37 sworn officers and the command staff consist of a Chief and two Lieutenants. There are five Sergeants assigned as patrol supervisors. The Investigation Division consist of one Sergeant and four permanently assigned Detectives and a School Resource Officer.
Officers are assigned to Flint Area Narcotics Group (F.A.N.G.), Genesee Auto-theft Network (G.A.I.N.). The City of Burton also has a K9 unit, Community Service Officer, Field training Officers, School Resource Officer, and Accident Reconstruction Team.
- Starting wages based on experience. Top out pay at five years.
- Base pay as of July 1st, 2022, Certified- $49,346.17 or $23.72 hr
- Five years as of July 1st, 2022- $67,084.99 or $32.25 Shift premium
- Lateral pay depending on years of service
- Night shift 5%
- Health care = Blue Cross/Blue Shield
- Pension- MERS (Municipal Employees Retirement System)
- 12-hour shifts.
