Description:

This position is perfect for Criminal Justice students seeking experience and practical skills. With schedules that can be modified to the needs of College students, opportunities exist for part-time work, both year-round and seasonally. During the traditional school year, Cadets will primarily work in the front office in a customer service capacity. From Memorial Day to Labor Day (peak season), Cadets will help conduct proactive patrols the City's park system. Internship credits can also be earned with participating Universities/Colleges.  

Cadets may also become eligible for sponsorship to an MCOLES Police Academy, dependent on performance and openings.

Duties can include (but are not limited to):

  • Customer Service at the police lobby
  • Records management
  • Patrol City Parks
  • Enforce City Ordinances
  • Seasonal and year-round opportunities available

Minimum qualifications include:

  • 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Michigan operator's license
  • Clean criminal history record
  • Current criminal justice students preferred
