Job Summary:
The dispatcher is an essential and crucial part of the law enforcement team. This position will work primarily the night shift, but may work days or evenings. This position will perform dispatch duties, providing leadership to all Intermediate Officers and Auxiliary Officers, and assist Dispatch Operations Manager in updating, coordinating and maintaining all dispatch records and functions. They are responsible for responding to radio/telephone inquiries from public safety personnel and the general public concerning complaints, emergency situations, and criminal activity. They act in partnership with law enforcement officers working the road and supply critical information and crucial services for their day to day operation, and coordinate deployment of emergency personnel and equipment during any crisis situation. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college philosophy.
Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.
Required Qualifications:
- No criminal record.
- Valid driver’s license, no more than 6 points – and meet any other requirements to be a College authorized driver
- HS Diploma and one of the following:
- 48 credit hours in criminal justice related area or demonstrated work experience in an emergency response career.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or comparable experience.
- Previous campus law enforcement dispatch experience preferred.
