The Detroit Transit Police Department is accepting applications for Transit Police Officer.
DESCRIPTION:
Detroit Transit Police Officers are MCOLES licensed officers with the authority to enforce the laws and city ordinances, while patrolling the city?s Transit systems. These systems include the Detroit People Mover Elevated Rail System, Detroit Department of Transportation city-wide bus system, Detroit Department of Transportation facilities and centers, and the M-1 Rail System.
PAY RATE:
Transit Police Officers: $49,400 - $69,200/yr (commensurate with every five years of qualifying law enforcement experience) plus overtime, holiday pay, shift premiums, education incentive for the completion of an Associate?s Degree or higher.
Pre-Service (Academy Sponsored) Employees: $46,800/yr.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Patrol shifts are currently 8-hours, which include 10 working days and 4 leave days in a pay period.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Transit Police Officers: Candidates can be current MCOLES licensed or expired MCOLES licensed (must be renewed and current upon hire)
Pre-Service (Academy Sponsored):
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- U.S. Citizen
- No felony convictions
- Valid Michigan driver's license with an acceptable driving history
- MCOLES certifiable (successfully passed MCOLES reading, writing and physical agility standards).
