Iron Mountain Police Department: Full-time Police Officer Closing Date: July 31, 2024

The Iron Mountain Police Department will accept applications to fill a full-time police officer position.  Applications will be accepted until all open positions are filled.  

One position will be an immediate hire, with two more positions to be filled by July 2024.

Starting wage is $24.53 per hour, with top patrol wage of $28.77 after 2 years.  Lateral applicants who are MCOLES licensed may qualify for year 2 wages.  Individuals that are not MCOLES licensed at this time are still encouraged to apply.  For individuals not licensed the city will be considering providing the Police Academy Training in the future sometime prior to July of 2024.  The monetary compensation will increase yearly through collective bargaining negotiations. Benefits include health insurance consisting of medical/Rx, dental, and vision; a pension plan with a 2.0 multiplier that includes a defined benefit, with an additional employer match defined contribution (457b) plan.  Employees also receive holiday pay, vacation, sick, and personal leave.

Applicant must be a high school graduate, must reside within a 20-mile radius of Iron Mountain City limits within six months from date of hire (per Collective Bargaining Agreement) and must possess a valid Driver’s License.  Applications may be obtained at the Iron Mountain Police Department from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. seven days a week, or you may request an application to be e-mailed or mailed to you by calling (906) 774-1234.
