The Lake Orion Police Department is looking to fill both a full-time vacancy, and part time positions as well. Lake Orion is in Northern Oakland County, approximately 1.5 square miles, with just shy of 3,000 residents. Lake Orion consists of an all sports lake, a bustling downtown community (including an active night scene), and one mile of M-24 (Lapeer Rd).
For part time, the starting rate is $25.41 an hour. Primary shifts will be Friday and Saturday swing shift (8pm-4am) and Sunday afternoons (3pm-11pm). Part Time Officers may also be asked to work during the week to cover vacations and other time off. Open and flexible availability is a must.
For full time, the starting rate is $26.12 an hour, however those with three years of full time experience are eligible to start at step 2, which is $30.27 an hour. Top pay comes at step 3 which is $34.69 an hour. Health insurance is through BCBS of Michigan, with no employee contribution, and retirement is MERS 457. Our normal full time work schedule is 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend off.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree
- MCOLES licensed or MCOLES licensable
- No felony convictions
- Good driving record
- Excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Ability to work alone
- Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays
