Center Line Department of Public Safety: Public Safety Officer Closing Date: March 13, 2024

Job Description: 
The Center Line Department of Public Safety is currently accepting applications to fill a vacancy for the position of Public Safety Officer. Center Line Public Safety Officers are cross trained in Police, Firefighting, and Medical First Responder. Training for the Police Academy, Fire Academy and Medical First Responder will be provided at no cost to the employee once hired. Preference will be given to applicants who have already obtained MCOLES Police License or Fire Fighter I and II certifications.

Requirements include:

  • High school/GED diploma;
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, 21 years or older at time of employment;
  • Must have passed the MCOLES physical, reading and writing test; 
  • Must have a valid Michigan driver's license and good driving history;
  • Ability to successfully pass a background investigation, psychological evaluation, interview process, and drug/alcohol screen;Ability to work 12-hour shifts

Benefits:

  • Defined Benefits Pension System with a 2.75 multiplier
  • Under our current contract top pay for public safety officers in the year 2024 is $85,798 and in the year 2025 will be $87,513.97
  • 12-hour shifts with a shift differential for second shifts
  • 13 paid holidays (employee has the option to convert holiday pay to vacation time or any combination of both)
