Mackinac County Sheriff's Office: Full-Time Road Patrol Deputy Closing Date: January 30, 2024

The Mackinac County Sheriff's Office has a full time opening and is currently accepting applications for the position of Resident-Road Patrol Deputy. Applicants are expected to pass a drug screening, background investigation and oral interview.

  • MCOLES Licensed/Licensable or currently in an academy REQUIRED (we DO NOT sponsor academy prospects)
  • Relaxed tattoo and beard policy
  • Regularly scheduled 8 hour shifts with every other weekend off
  • Mackinac County Residency REQUIRED within 6 months  of hiring                                                                                   
  • Shift hours from 8am-4pm or 4pm-midnight                                                                                                         
  • Top pay at 2 years of full-time employment                                                                                                       
  • Duties may include operating patrol boats, Side x sides, snowmobiles and hovercraft  

Pay and Benefits:

  • Minimum starting pay from $22.28 - $26.24 an hour depending on experience plus shift premium and OT when available. 
  • No cost BC/BS health care for the employee and family, including medical/dental/vision. 
  • Longevity pay and vested retirement after 6 years that includes up to 9% employer contribution.  
  • Also, employee retirement health care with county contribution depending on years of service. 
  • Sick, vacation and personal days are also included.
  • All uniforms, training, patrol vehicle and equipment are paid for or provided by the employer.
