Grandville Police Department: Police Officer Closing Date: February 5, 2024

The Grandville Police Department is currently looking to fill an open position for a full-time police officer. This position requires a commitment to the community policing philosophy as well as the highest standards in professionalism. Officers must strive to create a partnership between themselves and the community they serve, working together to identify, prioritize and solve problems with the goal of improving the overall quality of life in the City of Grandville. 

The City of Grandville is a vibrant and engaging community with six parks, a portion of Buck Creek Trail, access to the Grand River, a variety of faith-based communities, as well as both residential and commercial footprints with a large retail area. The Police Department has consistent positive community involvement and multiple outreach opportunities including Police in the Parks, Bike Rodeo’s, Citizens Police Academy, Picture Books and Police, Cops and Kids and many more.

Education & Required Credentials:

  • Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years of age and MCOLES licensable at the time of employment.  
  • Candidates must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license with no restrictions
  • Be able to pass an extensive background, physical, and psychological examination as well as an oral assessment and drug screening.
  • An associate degree in criminal justice is preferred, but not required.

Salary & Benefits:

  • 2023 salary range is $56,118.40 (start) to $75,732.80 (4th year).  
  • Candidates with three years or more experience as a full-time officer may be eligible for a starting wage at the 3-year contractual rate of pay ($70,096.00) after successful completion of our Field Training Program. 

This position includes a competitive benefit package. The City provides life insurance, dental, and long-term disability at no cost to the employee. We offer options for a high deductible health insurance, health savings account, short term disability, vision insurance, and additional voluntary life insurance. The employer also provides retiree health benefits.

The City provides a defined contribution retirement plan with a mandatory City contribution of 11% and employee contribution of 5%.  This position also includes, 10 holidays, 2 personal business days, 11+ vacation days, 11+ sick days and 4 hours of compensatory time every pay period while working 12-hour shifts as well as tuition reimbursement opportunities, longevity pay and complete access to an employee assistance program.
