City of Mason: Police Chief Closing Date: March 13, 2024

The City of Mason has an exciting opportunity for an executive level Chief of Police. We are currently recruiting for a full-time, benefited, salary exempt Chief of Police. Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Chief of Police is responsible for the overall administration and executive activity of the police department. As well as leading, developing and managing two clerical staff, one detective, and two sergeants who oversee eight full- time police officers. Our sworn officers provide police protection services to approximately 8,500 residents within just over five square miles. The police department averages approximately 4500 calls for service annually. The Chief of Police is also a member of the Leadership Team for the City and participates in the development and implementation of city-wide projects and programs.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform a variety of complex, administrative, supervisory, and professional work in planning, coordinating, and directing the Police Department. It is the responsibility of the Chief of Police to foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust between the citizens, community leaders, and the police; as well as forming partnerships to address problems of crime, fear of crime, drugs, and social disorder. The Chief of Police should strive to provide an ethical, people-oriented work environment where department employees may enjoy their jobs, utilize their talents and respect one another and grow as individuals.

The City of Mason offers an annual salary between $75,000-95,000, depending on qualifications and with consideration given to City of Mason residents or willingness to move to the City of Mason.
