Village of Blissfield: Police Officer Recruit Closing Date: March 29, 2024

The Village of Blissfield is accepting applications to create a candidate list for Police Officer Recruit. The successful candidate will be sponsored to the police academy. The position under the general supervision of the Police Chief, performs regular patrols of the Village of Blissfield to protect life and property, promote the public’s trust, confidence, and sense of safety and security. Officers can be assigned to any hours of the day or night, including weekends, holidays and special events. A comprehensive list of job requirements and expectations will be provided to the applicant upon request.

• 20 years of age or older
• U.S. Citizen
• Good moral character
• Associate Degree upon graduation of the Academy (if no Associate’s Degree, must have at least 41 semester credits in Criminal Justice, contact counselor to obtain your application to graduate)
• OR Waiver of Associate Degree for prior Military Police Officers with a minimum of 2080 hours military law enforcement experience. Waiver issued by MCOLES based on an honorable discharge and review of properly executed DD-214.
• Must possess a valid Michigan Operator’s License.
• Must have and continue to maintain a good driving record.
• No license suspension in the last 5 years
• No serious violations in the last 5 years
• No more than 3 minor violations within the past 3 years
• No more than 3 points currently on the driving record.
• Must have successfully completed MCOLES Physical Fitness Agility Test after January 18, 2024. (Test dates found at

• No felony convictions
• No misdemeanor driving offenses within past seven years prior to application.
• No illicit drug use, including marijuana/THC.
• Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.

Compensation: Starting Wage $22.57/hour plus benefit package. The Village of Blissfield will pay the tuition costs for the academy. Wage increase to $28.21/hour upon successful completion of the academy. The successful candidate will be required to sign a three (3) year commitment to the Village of Blissfield.
