Position: The Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office has 1 full-time Resident Road Patrol Deputy vacancy (East) and is currently accepting applications/resumes for this position. Applicants are expected to pass mental health and drug screening tests in addition to a background investigation and oral interview.
Requirements: Applicants must be MCOLES licensed or licensable at the time of application. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, be willing to work a variety of shifts and capable of handling a wide variety of police situations independently. Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office has resident deputies that are expected to live in their assigned area of the county.
Compensation: Minimum starting salary range of $24.09 to $28.92 an hour depending on experience and education plus OT and shift premium pay. No cost health care for the employee and family, including medical/dental/vision insurance. Vested retirement after 6 years that includes up to 12% employer/employee contribution and employee retirement health care with county contribution depending on years of service. Sick, vacation and personal days are also included. All uniforms, weapons, SUV and equipment are provided.

Top pay after 2 years of employment.
Deputies regularly scheduled work hours are between 8 a.m. and Midnight. Set work schedules with every other weekend off. Yearly longevity pay – $100 per year of service paid out at year 6 - 20.
