Schoolcraft College Police Department: Police Officer (Part-Time) Closing Date: July 1, 2024

The Schoolcraft College Police Department is a community-oriented agency, committed to delivering professional police services while providing a safe physical environment for the campus populations to engage in learning and community activities. Police Officers help to ensure this mission by providing for the safety and welfare of persons on the College campuses, protecting College assets, and seeking compliance with College policy.


  • Must have already graduated from a Police Academy.
  • Ability to be licensed as a police officer through the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES). * Ability to be licensed as a Medical First Responder (MFR). ** Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Physical ability necessary to perform the duties of police officer.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand routine orders, write clear and comprehensive reports, and to articulate them.
  • Working knowledge of state laws, city ordinances, familiarity with first aid, as well as fire prevention and control techniques.
  • Ability to pass stringent physical exam, psychological evaluation, fingerprint check and extensive background investigation.
  • Ability to take charge of a situation and take proper law enforcement action when necessary.
  • Ability to train, qualify and carry various firearms, TASER, pepper spray and handcuffs.
  • No dependency on alcohol or any other drug not prescribed by an attending physician.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Possession of valid operators license.

* MCOLES license must be maintained through the duration of employment.

** MFR license must be received within one year.
