This posting is for non-certified applicants who are looking to join the Charlotte Police Department. The employed recruit will be paid to attend the police academy and will be provided all the necessary equipment to do so. Upon successful completion of the academy, the Recruit will be promoted to Officer status, and begin the field training process.
The Charlotte Police Department is a full-service department with Specialized teams of highly trained officers as Evidence Technicians, Accident Reconstructionist, Firearms Instructors, Emergency Vehicle Instructors, School Resource Officers, Crime Prevention Officers, Mountain Bicycle Patrol, Drug Enforcement Team, Taser Instructors, Field Training Officers and Defensive Tactics Instructor.
Minimum requirements:
- High school graduate or GED
- MI Driver's License
- Possess the knowledge and ability to perform the job functions required for the position
- Preferred: Assoc. Degree, Criminal Justice.
This is a full-time union position with excellent benefits:
- MERS Hybrid plan: 1.75 multiplier w/ 401K split, at NO cost to the employee.
- Vacation rate is 80 hours after 1 year of employment and 120 hours after 3 years of employment, and 160 after 10 years of employment.
- 12 paid holidays.
- Starting pay is $21.13 an hour (less during police academy) going to $27.50 an hour after 3 years of service per Union contract.
