General Statement of Duties:
Performs general police and fire fighting as a member of a combined police and fire agency.
Lateral Transfers:
- Qualified lateral transfers are eligible for higher starting wage based on recognized prior experience up to top pay upon hiring.
- Ability to purchase prior service or military service credits up to six years.

- Top Pay effective Jan 2025 under current CBA: $88,283
- Entry level (no experience) starting wage: $52,496 with raises every six months until top pay.

Minimum Qualifications:
- MCOLES Physical Test Certification
- MCOLES Written Test Certification
- Be eligible to be licensed as a police officer according to MCOLES standards. Prior certification is strongly preferred but optional
- High School diploma
- Upon review and discussion, Prior Military, Police, or Fire Service experience may be considered for lateral transfer starting pay step increases.
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have no felony convictions
- Possess a valid Michigan driver's license
- Possess good moral character / free from drug dependency
- Be eligible to be certified as a firefighter l and ll. Prior certification is strongly preferred but optional.
- Able to meet all minimum standards mandated by the Michigan Commission on Law
- Enforcement Standards and the Michigan Firefighters Training Council
