Freeport Police Department: Police Officer (Part-Time) Closing Date: October 1, 2024

The Freeport Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for one position as a Part-Time Police Officer.

Freeport is a wonderful mix of both large and small farms, along with a small downtown residential. Known as a bedroom community to Lansing and Grand Rapids, Freeport offers small town, country living with easy access to big city life and work.

Freeport is a friendly close-knit community, and our officers are proactive and supported within the community, businesses and schools.

Duties include but are not limited to, patrolling village roadways, parks, schools, commercial and residential areas.  Preserve the peace, enforce criminal laws, enforce village ordinances, traffic enforcement, prevent and detect crimes of all types, obtaining evidence and completing criminal investigations, preparing cases to present to the prosecuting attorney, testify in court, adhere to all departmental policies while in the process of these duties.


  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Associate degree in criminal justice or a related field.
  • MCOLES Licensed or Licensable.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • No criminal convictions and pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must have the ability to complete all phases of the selection process.

HOURS WORKED: Flexible shifts based on the needs of the department.
