Woodland Township Police Department: Police Officer (Part-Time) Closing Date: October 1, 2024

The Woodland Township Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for one position as a Part-Time Police Officer.  Woodland Township is a rural, agricultural community located in the northeastern corner of Barry County, in the state of Michigan. The township consists of 35.9 square miles, serves more than 800 households and more than 2,000 residents.

Woodland Township is a wonderful mix of both large and small farms, along with a small downtown residential. Known as a bedroom community to Lansing and Grand Rapids, Woodland Township offers small town, country living with easy access to big city life and work.

Woodland Township is a friendly close-knit community and our officers are proactive and supported within the community, businesses and schools.

Duties include but are not limited to, patrolling village roadways, parks, schools, commercial and residential areas.  Preserve the peace, enforce criminal laws, enforce village ordinances, traffic enforcement, prevent and detect crimes of all types, obtaining evidence and completing criminal investigations, preparing cases to present to the prosecuting attorney, testify in court, adhere to all departmental policies while in the process of these duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be of good moral character.
• Associate degree in criminal justice or a related field.
• MCOLES Licensed or Licensable.
• Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
• Must be a United States Citizen
• No criminal convictions and pass a comprehensive background investigation.
• Must have the ability to complete all phases of the selection process.

HOURS WORKED:

Flexible 8 or 10hr shifts based on the needs of the department.
