PAY RATE: $18.73 per hour
WORK SCHEDULE: Part Time - Shift rotation: 8- and 12-hour shifts, as assigned, 56 hours per two weeks. Includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the processing, safety, and security of persons who have been detained in the East Lansing jail since they have been arrested; are awaiting trial; or who have been tried and convicted of a crime and are awaiting transport to a correctional facility. Must be able to maintain effective, courteous, and professional working relationships; respond to emergencies in the jail; and operate a variety of computer programs and equipment including the LEIN terminal.
REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; specialized training/experience in the field of corrections and/or law enforcement is highly desirable.
In addition, must respect the confidential nature of the job and be able to deal effectively and objectively with others. Must pass a thorough police background investigation. Additionally, position is contingent upon passing a physical which includes a drug screen.
