LIBERAL FRINGE BENEFITS
Hazel Park Officers earn starting salary with holiday pay of $58,696.  Top pay $87719 after 3 years.  Additional pay opportunities include overtime, double overtime working holidays, uniform pay, and education bonuses.  Law Enforcement experience may accelerate starting salary.

Employees receive $1500 upon hiring and $1500 after completing probation.

Employees will receive a competitive Fringe Benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, optical, and life insurance. Paid vacation, sick leave, paid personal days, a pension plan in addition to a 457(b)-plan available with employer match contribution.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR HAZEL PARK

1. Must be able to meet the requirements to obtain and hold a license as a Michigan Police Officer.
2. Must meet minimum qualifications set by MCOLES that includes a passing score for the pre-employment physical and written testing.
3. Must have successfully completed or be eligible to be enrolled into a Michigan Police Academy.
4. Pre-service candidates must complete and pass written EMPCO, Inc. exam with a minimum score of 75. 
5. Possess a valid Michigan Operator's License.
6. Be of good moral character and shall not be a convicted felon.

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Current staffing consists of 1 Chief, 3 Lieutenants, 3 Sergeants and 26 Officers. Civilians round out the department comprised of 1 Administrative Secretary, 3 dispatchers and 2 Records Clerks.

Career opportunities include assignments to Detective Bureau, Youth Bureau, Traffic Enforcement, Motor Carrier Enforcement, Narcotics Enforcement & Auto Theft Investigations.
