Morenci Police Department: Police Officer (Part-Time) Closing Date: September 21, 2024

The Morenci Police Department is accepting applications for a part-time police officer position. Prior law enforcement experience is preferred but not required. The applicant must have good interpersonal and public relation skills and be able to work a variety of shifts including weekends. Shifts are normally 8 hours. Starting pay is $25.72 per hr.

REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be MCOLES licensed.
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver's License and a good driving record.
  • Applicants must have no felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanor convictions.
  • Submit to and pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.
  • Must have basic computer skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine patrol / shift duties / taking and responding to calls for service.
  • Enforce all Federal and State of Michigan Laws, as well as City Ordinances.
  • Conduct Criminal Investigations.
  • Enforces traffic laws and conducts traffic related investigations.
  • Makes arrests and interviews persons / subjects.
  • Effectively communicates verbally and in writing - capable of preparing police reports and citations.
  • Operate desktop and patrol car computer software.

Salary: Starting pay: $ 25.72 per hr.
