POSITION SUMMARY:
The Oxford Police Department is looking to fill a full-time vacancy. The Oxford Police Department is a 24/7 operation, providing Police service to the Village of Oxford. Oxford is located in Northern Oakland County, is 2 square miles and approximately 3500 residents. Oxford has an excellent downtown, thanks to our nationally recognized DDA. Oxford also has M-24 running through the heart of downtown, bringing approximately 40,000 vehicles per day. Oxford has full-time Fire and ALS services provided by the Oxford Fire Department.
For full-time officers, starting pay is $27.10, with top pay reaching $36.12 on your third anniversary. Night shift premium is $1.00 per hour for any shifts between 3:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Shifts are 12 hours, with every other weekend off. Officers receive time and a half for holidays worked. Oxford currently recognizes 12 holidays. All officers also receive a holiday check during the first pay period in December for 96 hours of straight time at the Officer’s current rate of pay. Insurance is provided through BCBS of Michigan, and retirement is a MERS 457 with a minimum employee contribution of 5% (up to 10% if elected), with an employer contribution of 10%. Longevity pay starts at four years. A Health Savings Account is also provided.
Employees may earn up to 200 hours of vacation, general leave time accumulates at a rate of eight days per year, until 5 years of service, where it increases to twelve days per year. Comp time is available in lieu of overtime if requested, and employees are allowed to bank up to 100 hours at a time.
