The Almont Police Department is accepting applications for a full-time and part-time Police Officer. The Almont Police provide law enforcement services to both the Village and Township of Almont. The Village of Almont is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package. Full-time Police Officer starting pay is $26.78 per hour and part-time Police Officer is $25.75 per hour. Officers with prior Law Enforcement experience may advance in steps based on qualifications.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment and meet all MCOLES standards.
  • Must be MCOLES licensed or licensable.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver's license.
  • No Felony convictions. Misdemeanors will be screened on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be a United States citizen.
  • Must pass background investigation, physical exam and drug screening

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Enforce the law of the Village of Almont, The State of Michigan, and The United States of America.
  • Perform police patrol, prevent crime and disorder, protect life and property, direct traffic, investigate accidents, and enforce motor vehicle parking ordinances and regulations.
  • Investigate suspicious activities, apprehend and arrest law violators, gather evidence, and assist in prosecution.
  • Complete reports and documents as required by the department, ordinance, and statute.
  • This is general duty police work in the prevention of crime and the enforcement of State Laws as well as Local Ordinances.
