Salary Range for Detective Sergeant: $72,789 - $80, 249 DOQ
Requirements:
- MCOLES Certification
- Valid State Drivers License
- High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented with college level coursework in criminal justice or related field
- Three to five years as a police officer and related experience.
This position performs duties of an investigative law enforcement official, including police officer. In addition, under the supervision of the Police Chief, they will supervise the law enforcement activities of other detective and police officers on a shift assignment.
Other job responsibilities required but not limited to include the following:
- Supervises and conducts investigation of crimes.
- Directs the activities of Police Department and other personnel as related to an investigation.
- Coordinates investigations with other police jurisdictions, as necessary.
- Supervises and oversees the law enforcement activities of police officers assigned to prevent crime, protect life and property, and enforce state law, local ordinances, motor vehicle operation and parking regulations.
- Reviews and follows-up on reports prepared by police officers.
- Coordinates and oversees investigations and assigns follow-up investigations as necessary.
- Performs administrative duties for the Police Chief.
- Assists with budget preparation and requests, submitting bi ls/invoices and grant issues.
- Participates in the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of police officers.
- Conducts oral board interviews and written exams and firearms and PBT training.
