About Gerrish Township Police Department:
We are a 7-person community-oriented police department that works closely with each other and our community. You would be part of an experienced team with supportive management and would have opportunities to gain knowledge and additional training. We offer a rotating schedule, not seniority based, that gives all officers the opportunity to work different shifts throughout the year. If hired, you will receive a complete Field Training Program.
This position includes a progressive defined yearly wage increase schedule, fully paid family health benefits including dental and vision along with retirement, disability coverage and a life insurance policy.
We also offer academy sponsorships and will pay tuition and other related expenses for a cadet to attend a police academy. Cadets will be paid at an entry level wage of $22.62 per hour for 40 hours per week. After 30 days, the cadet will also receive full benefits.
Job Summary:
Full Time Road Patrol Officer would enforce local ordinances, state and federal laws, investigate criminal activities and traffic accidents, respond to complaints, arrest suspects, prepare reports and assist citizens in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations. Work with the community and neighborhoods to identify issues and address problems and work with other agencies to promote crime prevention and mutual aid.
