SUMMARY:

The Dryden Township Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Full Time Police Officer.  Dryden Township is located in southern Lapeer County and borders Oakland Co.  Spanning 36 square miles Dryden Township has a population of nearly 5000 residents.  The Jurisdiction also encompasses the Village of Dryden.   Our community is very supportive of our Police Department and values our services.

DUTIES:

Duties include but are not limited to, patrolling village streets and township roadways, parks, schools, commercial and residential areas.  Preserve the peace, enforce criminal laws, enforce twp. and village ordinances, traffic law enforcement, prevent and detect crimes of all types, obtaining evidence and completing criminal investigations, preparing cases to present to the prosecuting attorney, testify in court, adhere to all departmental policies while in the process of these duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Associates degree in criminal justice or related field.
  • Must be licensable as an MCOLES police officer, Licensed officers are preferred.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • No Felony or other disqualifying convictions and pass a comprehensive background investigation.
  • Must have the ability to complete all phases of the selection process.

HOURS WORKED:  

8 hour or 12-hour work schedule including nights and weekends.

WAGES:

Patrolman 1st year $60,798.40 (hourly rate $29.23) Patrolman 2nd year $65,7769.60 (hourly rate $31.62) Patrolman 3rd year $71,177.60 (hourly rate $34.22). (4.5 % increase in pay per POAM union contract starting 7/01/2025 with top hourly pay increasing to $35.76 per hour) *Lateral transfer is available depending on prior experience.
