ABOUT PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPT:
We are a rural county of approx. 700 square miles with a population of 12,000 residents. Our department employees 28, not including the sheriff or undersheriff. The department is responsible for running the jail, road patrol, investigations, prisoner transports, as well as security of the courthouse. We also have a K-9 Unit, school resource officers and we are part of the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team (HUNT).
POSITION:
This position is for a road patrol deputy. The duties of the position are to respond to emergency calls, patrol the county roads, highways, and municipality streets within the county, as well as enforcing local, state, and federal laws, and the investigation of criminal activity within the county. The employee will be required to work 12 hour shifts, days, nights, weekends and holidays. Besides wages, the position includes insurance and a retirement package through MERS, as well as vacation, personal and sick time off.
