Ashley Batteen Selected as the Recruitment and Professional Development Specialist for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development

LANSING – Today, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Gary McDowell announced the addition of Ashley Batteen to the MDARD team as the department’s Recruitment and Professional Development Specialist. 

In this new position, Batteen will serve as the driver for all MDARD activities pertaining to recruitment of new talent, retention of existing staff, and professional development strategy and implementation. In addition, she will be working with stakeholders on an industry workforce strategy. 

Batteen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in both recruiting and professional development programming. 

During her several years with The Lear Corporation Career Services Center for Michigan State University’s (MSU) Broad College of Business, Batteen led programs to drive professional development through events and workshops, as well as developing content for lifelong learning. She connected thousands of people to businesses nationwide looking for top talent through strategic relationship building. 

Batteen holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Baker College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from MSU.
