Van Buren Conservation District is hosting a Grazing Workshop. The event is will have pasture “Walk N’ Talks” and focused program sessions on a broad range of subjects headlined by Dr. Richard Ehrhardt, small ruminate specialist from Michigan State University. Dr. Ehrhardt will discuss his research on pasture parasite management. Gabriel Francisco of the Van Buren Conservation District will host a session on pasture systems and grazing management, and Caleb Fiechter of “The River Farm” will discuss his family farm, his work with raising pigs on pasture, and his approach to diversified whole farm thinking.
Lunch will be catered by Chef Ashland Tann an independent chef from Randellstown, Maryland and will feature produce and products from multiple family farms in Van Buren County. Chef Tann was recently named one of 15 national chefs impacting “Food Policy and Change” by the James Beard Foundation and was invited to take part in their 26th annual “Summer Bootcamp” in Cold Spring, New York last week. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options will be available.
