MAEAP Program Statement
The Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) is a legislatively-enabled program, designed to work with a partnership to help individuals reduce the risks of agricultural soil and water pollution. The Program’s purpose is to deliver MAEAP through on-farm technical assistance using farm specific risk assessments, education and conservation plan development to implement practices, and coordinate local, state, and federal agency resources to help reduce identified environmental risks, and make progress toward MAEAP verification. The program is funded through General Funds and fees assessed on the sale of nitrogen fertilizers and the registration and sale of pesticides. MAEAP effectively addresses potential agricultural pollution through a variety of distinct programs.
