MDARD also offers multiple options for taking Certified Pesticide Applicator and Registered Technician exams. Please see the following links regarding these options: Paper-based testing through MDARD and Computer-based testing through Metro Institute. Regardless of the method, a paper application with the appropriate fee must be submitted to MDARD prior to testing.
- Commercial application fee is $75.00
- Registered application fee is $45.00
- Private application fee is $50.00
If you are testing via paper-based exams at an MDARD exam site, the application fee is paid at the exam site with a check or money order payable to the "State of Michigan." Cash and credit cards are not accepted.
If you are testing via computer-based exams hosted by Metro Institute, the completed paper application must be printed and mailed with the appropriate application fee via check or money order to the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, P.O. Box 30776, Lansing, Michigan 48909. Cash and credit cards are not accepted with paper application.
Note: Metro Institute is in Arizona and in the Pacific Time Zone, with hours of operations two hours behind Michigan. Please call them at 877-533-2900 and leave a voicemail to speak to a representative. They normally return phone calls within two business hours.
